100+ to Creatively Reuse Old Magazines. From Always Chrysti here. I actually got a question about what to do with old magazines about a month ago and referred them here. I have a folder with craft supply resources, ideas etc… and since I saw that someone posted the 101 Simple Handmade Gift Turorials (great link), I thought, what the heck - pull out the links with mass tutorials. This year and a half has been one full of confusion, helplessness, and hopelessness. I can’t even begin to explain why I felt this way. I just know that all of the events that took place were meant to occur the way they did. Destiny? God’s path? I don’t think I will ever understand. What I do know is that this all happened so that I could grow. So I could become who I was destined to become and flourish in the happiness that was created for me.

Experiencing immense pain has taught me to appreciate life for what it is. Life isn’t controllable. It took me a while to understand this but.. I finally do. I can’t control anyone but myself. I am in charge of only my own emotions and actions.

Looking at my experiences of last year and this year, I just don’t understand why I acted the way I did. I did so many things that I knew were addictive and horrible- I knew that I wouldn’t come out of the experiences with a great result. I did it anyway. Why? I guess I felt it was a good way to escape myself. I knew what I was doing had the potential to ruin my life.. and I knew I was pushing away people who loved me. To be honest- I didn’t know why people loved me and wanted to help me and be there for me. It made me mad. (of all things mad, right?) I would try so incredibly hard to hurt people enough so that they would hate me and stop caring about me. It was easier that way for some reason. but I still felt so empty and sad.

When Danielle killed herself, I, among my entire class, was a naive 16 year old. We were all forced to endure emotions of grief and confusion. questions like: Why? How? When? but the most important: Where is she now? These were on my mind day in and day out. I tried to keep myself together and did a damn good job of portraying a sane person. But inside I was slowly decaying. My heart had broken. and only I could fix it. The only problem was that I wasn’t willing to. I began to loathe myself so much that I didn’t think I deserved to be happy. I didn’t deserve to be like everyone else. I was so unstable. I know my friends noticed. They reached out but I kept trying to make them think I was alright. A few people who I entirely loved became people who couldn’t stand me. We went our separate ways. And it was meant to happen- it was life’s way of telling me “Christine, the people in your life NOW want to be there for you. They love you.” I love these people back.. I think you guys saved me.

For the first time in years I can honestly say that I am happy. I am so glad to be alive. and I am so thankful to have such beautiful people around me.
